How to Feel Productive

Productivity might just be key to staying sane right now. I know that on the days I’m more productive I find I’ve concentrated less on all the negative stuff and thus feel a lot better.

Planning to Stay Productive

I am so happy that I got into the Happy Planner because it has really helped me stay on top of stuff I want and need to get done. Even if you don’t have the money to run out (okay shop online) and buy a happy planner or any other sort of paper planner, you can still create a basic to-do list for yourself.

If you can buy a planner and have been looking at The Happy Planner, I encourage you to pick one up. I find the Vertical and Dashboard layouts are my favorite, but you can decide which one is best for you on their website.

If The Happy Planner is not for you but you still want to work with a paper planner there are tons to choose from on just about any website from Target to Amazon. Any basic planner can work if that’s what you are looking for.

If you really don’t want a planner you can still create a to-do list whether you do that on your computer through notepad or Microsoft Word or on your phone through an app. If neither of these work for you, just grab a piece of paper and make one the old-fashioned way.

Creating a to-do List When You Don’t Have Much to do

You might not have plans to go anywhere anymore, but there are still things you can jot down on a to-do list to make yourself feel more productive. Here are some examples on things that you could write down for a to-do list:

  • Take a shower
  • Brush teeth
  • Get dressed
  • Drink 64 oz of water
  • Vitamins
  • Medicine
  • Dishes
  • Laundry
  • Vaccum
  • Feed Dog
  • Feed Cat

To Do

  • Drink Water
  • Take Vitamins
  • Do A Work Out Video
  • Wash The Dishes
  • Organize Closet
  • Get Dressed
  • Call Aunt Linda
  • Zoom Meeting @ 3
  • Email Kyle

To Do

  • Eat Breakfast
  • Drink Water
  • Vitamins
  • Watch 3 Episodes Tiger King
  • Read Stephen King – 2 Chapters
  • 15 minute meditation or Yoga
  • 15 minute work out\

And if you really can’t think of anything you can make a “DONE” list. As you get things done during the day (yes even if you binge-watched the entire season of Tiger King) write them down. It will help to be able to visually see what you have done and that might help you to create a “TO-DO” list in the future.

How They Make Me Feel

At the end of the day when I look back at my to-do list, even if I only crossed off half or even just a couple of things, it makes me feel good because I’m able to see that I actually got something done even during a time like this when you might feel like you are stuck in an endless sitting-on-the-couch-in-your-underwear-eating-cheetos hole. Being productive, even if only for 15 minutes a day can help you feel better. And I think we all deserve to feel good everyday. Even if it’s over a small accomplishment. We need to be doing things that make us feel a little bit more normal.

Stay safe and healthy. And don’t forget to take care of your mental health as well as your physical health.
